PATHWAY TO RUGBY EXCELLENCE

Sunnybank Rugby Union is excited to announce the re-launch of the Mick Ramsay Academy within the 2025 season. Designed for both male and female players starting their Junior Colts journey, this Academy offers an elite platform for performance rugby development while fostering personal growth and community connection.

What to Expect

Our Academy program is structured to develop the whole player, ensuring a balanced approach that accommodates players’ existing commitments and provides ample opportunities for growth. With a maximum of 30 players per cohort, we ensure each athlete receives a personalised experience, enabling them to thrive both on and off the field. Throughout the year, players will benefit from:

Up to 6 Performance Rugby Sessions:

  • Including Core 4 training and Specialist Skills opportunities to fine-tune every aspect of your game.

Strength and Conditioning (S&C) Programmes:

  • Tailored fitness and strength programs to support players throughout the season, enhancing performance and reducing injury risk.

Workshops:

  • At least 4 workshops focusing on mental health, nutrition, analysis, and recovery to equip players with the tools to maintain peak performance and well-being.

Club Connection and Community Give Back Opportunities:

  • A chance to give back to the Sunnybank Rugby community, strengthening the bonds within the club while developing leadership and teamwork skills.

Exposure to Senior and Premier Rugby Programmes:

  • Get a taste of what lies ahead with exposure to senior teams and the Premier Rugby programme at Sunnybank.

The Mick Ramsay Academy takes a holistic approach to player development, ensuring that each player has the resources and guidance to excel. From developing technical skills on the field to building mental resilience, leadership, and community involvement off the field, the Academy provides a well-rounded experience designed to elevate your rugby journey within the season and beyond.
